Course Details
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) ensures the UK construction sector has a safe, skilled and competent workforce. It sets industry health and safety standards, oversees training qualifications (such as SMSTS and SSSTS), and helps workers secure mandatory CSCS cards. Completing recognised CITB courses proves your competence on site, keeps you legally compliant with UK safety regulations, and opens up career progression.
As an approved CITB training provider, CSS is on hand to deliver a variety of CITB courses and refresher courses to all. Following the CITB syllabus provides the structure required to reach the standards needed in the UK construction industry; using the right instructors gives you the reassurance you need to interpret that information.

About this course
SSSTS is the normal progressive move taken to step into a supervisory position. It reflects your increased knowledge and experience and is seen as a fantastic opportunity within our industry. To supervise effectively and work well between management and workers on the ground, supervisors must understand all aspects of their role — and none more so than the safety of their site and people.
This Site Supervisor Training Scheme course introduces health and safety, welfare and environmental issues to workers who need knowledge of the legal responsibilities relevant to their work. Training provides delegates with a sound knowledge base, enabling them to give valuable assistance in safely managing a construction site, covering all relevant legislation and the essential elements relating to site safety in a supervisory role.
The core aim is for them to know why they are carrying out their identified duties, what is expected of them from management, site workers and suppliers, and their contribution to the safety of the workplace.

Management systems
Developing a health and safety management system.
Occupational health
Occupational health, including drugs and alcohol issues and policies.
Fire prevention
Fire prevention measures and controls.
Risk assessments
Risk assessments and method statements.
Hazardous substances
Identification, management and control of hazardous substances.
CDM regulations
Construction (Design & Management) regulations for managing the health, safety and welfare of construction projects.
Working at height
Working at height, including equipment and regulations.
PPE
Personal protective equipment.
Manual handling
Manual handling, including its importance and the regulations.
Accidents and first aid
Accidents and first aid provision on site.
Toolbox talks
A short presentation on singular aspects of health and safety.

Unlike some providers, we provide all training materials, books and certification. All of our equipment is modern and hygienic. We can place your company logo on your certificate if desired.
You may book as an individual, and we will run courses for five to twelve people.
